MAD Story in USA Today

I found a folder on my computer that I had forgotten was there. There were folders with pictures from the Decaturs, Nancy, Jane, Peggy, Wendy, Tony, Lyla, Karen, and Judy.

I also have a HUGE story from the Champain-Urbana newspaper but it's the actual paper.. not a scanned copy. It's about Madapalooza at Jane's house. It's a whole page plus part of another (and includes photos) so it's too big to scan. The one below is from USA Today. Hard to believe we made it to national news statis!

Hey MAD friends, Whatcha think????

Is this something you want to do? You can each be contributors if you have a blogger account. (I think the terminology is "team blog".) If you don't have one, you can get one, but you need a google account. That isn't hard to do and blogger is really easy to use.

I was thinking that we can put links to all our websites or blogs, or whatever on here so it's easy to keep updated on each other. I don't want to put anyone's links unless they say so. I added Jane "just because" but can take it off if she wants. I also added Lyla since it's a business site that is already public accessible.

I was also thinking that maybe... just maybe some of our MAD friends who are not "present" might find us.

Madapalooza Memories

This is my favorite picture from Madapalooza. It's framed and hanging in my dining room. I thought it was the perfect depiction of "twins"...how the two of them (Naomi and Amon) are touching as they jump into the lake, with Esther in the background contemplating the jump alone.

Naomi and Amon at Madapalooza. They were sunburned and tired after a long day of fun in the lake. At the time, they were almost 11 years old. Today they are 21. Naomi is living in San Jose with her long time boyfriend, Dane. She just started a blog All the Way From San Jose. Amon still lives in Fulton.

My MAD file folder

I dug out my "MAD" folder which was at the very back of the bottom drawer of my file cabinet. Several times I have considered throwing it away but could never bring myself to do that. When Karen caught up with me on the internet a couple months ago, she said the same thing.

Now I'm looking through it... quickly for now. There's lots of pictures of my MAD friends and their children... Many are from Madapalooza, many others are not. (Those must have arrived in Christmas cards or whatever.

There's a few pages of printed posts, but I don't have time to read them right now so I'm not even going to try.

There is a copy of the newspaper story that was published about us in the "News Gazette", although I can't find what city it's from. The thought occurs to me to see if the story is still online in their archive.

There is a birth announce for Lyla's son, Oscar.

AND... there is a list of members with some sort of personality study check list. I'll post that soon. It will definately bring back some distant memories.
